This is the team as we were leaving Nashville on Jan. 18. We were so pumped and ready to see and experience all that God had planned. After all the delays and setbacks we knew God was going to speak to us and change us forever.
Some of the things we did while in W. Africa:
Village visits, taught English (thats dangerous for me), spoke at the university, prayer-walked, showed the Jesus film in a village, meet with local M’s, and experienced life as a new M on the field.
There will be many more trips to the area and I hope you will be open to going.
You have got to be at this event, each year it gets better. You can get tickets at the church and they are very inexpensive for a date with your spouse. Great food, great friends, great laughs, and great memories with your loved one. I hope to see you there. Romance and Roses ’08

I am back. We had an incredible mission trip with our team in West Africa. Incredible things are happening and I really think that God is moving in the Maninka people group. I have lots of stories and pics to share later, right now I have to catch up on a few things. I will post real soon with some incredible pictures and stories.
While you are reading this I am traveling toward W. Africa on a mission trip with six (6) other people from our church. This is a vision trip to see how our people might be able to minister to an unreached people group named the Maninka (Monica).
Please pray for us right now. Please pray for our team as you think of us over the next ten (10) days.
Prayer Request:
God to receive Glory, That we would honor Him in our actions and speech, Safety, Health, Families left behind, finding a person of peace, the missionaries we meet will be refreshed, and that we will have eyes to see what God is doing in that area of the world.
We will return Jan. 27th. So, I will not be on-line until I return. I hope to type about the trip when I get back.
Go Packers.
I read a lot. It doesn’t matter what it is, books, magazines, or blogs. One of the things I have noticed recently is a real anger and extreme words used to describe the right and wrong way to lead a church, experience worship, or anything else associated with the church.
I get very upset when people bash a church (local). I get upset when people bash the Church (universal). The easiest thing to do is stand back and yell, scream, write, or type bashings. My experience with most people (not all) is they have not personally read any of the writings, talked to the leaders personally, or visited the church and the services to get a more rounded picture of why a particular church is shaped the way they are shaped . Some of the loudest, most angry, and mean things are spewed by people who are not affiliated in any way with the church in question.
I am probably naive, but lets work to make the place God has placed us all He desires us to be, rather than running down what someone else is doing. God is big enough to handle His church.
I am thankful that FBCSmyrna is a place where people are striving to follow the Lord with everything that is within them. There is such a unity that is evident and present in our body. We are not perfect. We are not like a lot of other churches. We are always seeking the Lord for His direction for the church. We are not the only church in our town, nor or we the church for everyone. But, I am so thankful that God is using FBCSmyrna to reach people who are far from Himself.
I have been told before that attacks from the outside make you stronger and more united and attacks from within will divide and destroy unity. I ask you to pray for our church and our pastoral and lay leadership that we will only do what God calls us to do for His kingdom and if we are doing something He doesn’t desire we will hear His voice (not someone else’s) and obey. I thank the Lord for the church He has called me to and allowed me to be a part of for His glory.
don’t click on the link. It is a satire site of all things Christian. It is like The Onion. I thought it was funny.
Interesting Story. Whether you agree with the church or not, this has some far reaching implications I think.
I have just posted some new Photos form Christmas. Click the Flickr link on the bottom right-hand side of the blog to see them.
Evan got a new ski mask or as we call it his thief mask.
