We had a worshipful Easter weekend. Our church had 5 services during the holiday weekend, one Sat. evening and four Sunday morning. Pat was even able to get the words propitiation and expiated into the sermon.

We also grabbed a moment for an Easter picture of the family. Thanks Susan for your help.

What a great time we had at the Grand Canyon.

We are leaving early in the morning for the Grand Canyon to celebrate a milestone B-Day. I had my big day last Oct. and Amy will pass the milestone in Aug.  So, for our gifts to each other we are headed to the South Rim to hike and play around. We have been saving and paying for this gift since last summer.

I will not post for a week or so, blog at you later next week hopefully.

Pride – when I contend for God’s supremacy, when sinful human beings aspire to the status and position of God and refuse to acknowledge their dependence on Him.

Pride has one end – self-glorification

James 4:6…Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

God hates pride and the prideful.

Prov. 8:13 – The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.

John Stott – “pride is our greatest enemy…”

I struggle with pride many times a day. God forgive me and help me to be humble. – Kyle Goen

I finished a new book, Humility – True Greatness, that has really captured my attention. I am an active reader. When I sit down to read a book I have a pen in hand, a highlighter and a journal usually comes into play somewhere in the process. Well, this book has really got a lot a notes that have been added by me, the participating reader. I’m attempting to practice some of the things that I have impacted me from the author, C.J. Mahaney.

Here are a few of the Daily Practices to Combat Pride and Cultivate Humility.

• Reflect on the cross of Christ daily (pg. 65)
• Acknowledge my dependence on Christ each morning (pg. 69)
• Express gratitude each morning to God (thankful heart) (pg. 70)
• Practice the disciplines of prayer, study, and worship (pg. 72)
• More memory of scripture and meditation on the Word (pg. 73)
• Cast my cares on Him each morning ( pg. 74)

My desire is to implement these practices so my life is truly changed for His glory.
